I love the level of shenanigans it has you engage with.
It makes being a chaos gremlin feel so much more fun, since finding the means to do so can be a bit more of a challenge

Been having good fun running a familiar setup:

+sv_singleplayerrespawn 1
+fraglimit 3
+hd_dropeverythingondeath 1

and for extra spiciness

sv_fastmonsters 1 (This makes stuff like revenants and babuins even more hellish)

I got a mod that adds a leather jacket, so when dropping everything on death, I can respawn with a minimal loadout of leather jacket and pistol using a bind upon living again. Once the 3 lives are up, I admit defeat n just skip to the next level.

I think this serves as a middle between using saves or starting from the very beginning.

But ye this along with a bite sized pack of obsidian generated maps (4 of them) I think make for a cool exercise in sharpening HDest skills and room clearing knowledges. Also dependent on what settings you input in the Obsidian settings.

this! it took me a long time to figure out, but it makes it a lot less punishing.

though it does make me wish that levels were designed with respawning in mind, with soulslike shortcuts you can unlock. that's something i'd like to try if i ever got into making maps. :3
